COURSE OVERVIEW

FULL TIME ESL
The Intensive ESL program at GCC is a 25 hour/week course designed to give students the opportunity for rapid progress in all facets of the English language. Classes are structured from elementary through high advanced and are organized according to progression through accompanying textbooks. Morning and afternoon focus on different aspects of learning. Morning classes teach grammar, writing, reading and other basic skills. These lessons correspond with an afternoon listening and conversation class, where students can use the skills they have learned in a more practical, casual setting. Afternoon conversation classes will vary range of useful vocabulary.

PART TIME ESL
Students enrolled part-time can choose either the morning option (15 hour/week of grammar, writing and reading) or the afternoon option (10 hours/week of listening and conversation classes.)

LEVELS & PROGRAM LENGTH

We offer 6 different ESL proficiency levels, with curricula covering the needs of all ESL students, from complete beginners to students preparing to continue studies at the post-secondary level with native English speakers. Students complete a placement test on the first day of school in order to determine the course best suited to their level.

The students will receive a "student orientation" in introducing the rules, such as GCC's strict English Only policy. Homework and free conversation classes will complement regular student courses.

Each ESL session is 2 months (8 weeks), with a final exam being held on the last Thursday and Friday morning of each session. Students can pass to the next proficiency level if a passing grade of D, which is minimum of 60%, is obtained. We can accept the students who want to join our program only first 5 weeks. If the students join the program in the 6th week, he or she will be required to remain at the same level for the next term.
